This collection of photos gives a glimpse into the life and landscape here at The Ivy Farm. However, the best way to capture it all is by coming to visit. So, call and make an appointment to see us, we'll have your seat on the golf cart ready!
The James Farm is the area of on-going expansion here at The Ivy Farm. Beginning in 2005 it was designed for the production of our crops with large numbers. This section of the farm has incorporated more drip irrigation and almost total water retrieval!
The Ivy Farm has come a long way since 1992. Beginning as a business plan by a NC State University horticulture student in nursery management class, we have grown into a 35 acre facility on Virginia’s Eastern Shore.
The Ivy Farm has continued because of a simple philosophy – produce high quality, true to name plant material at a fair price while providing exceptional service along the way. This commitment is complimented by our increasing plant diversity and utilizing a “green” approach whenever possible.
As The Ivy Farm has grown and developed, the green, or environmental, aspects of being a good land steward have always been considered a priority. Whether water use/recycling, nutrient management, or plastic recycling, The Ivy Farm has been proactive on environmental concern since our conception. We know we are living here together and it is imperative for us all to This section of the nursery is for the layout of orders and the loading of trucks. Individual orders are counted, inspected, tagged, and finally loaded on to Ivy Farm delivery trucks.
This facility is where it all happens for production! Designed for the specific needs of The Ivy Farm, our potting system allows incredible flexibility in handling all necessary soil requirements for the large selection of plant material we grow.
These areas are where the plant material matures and becomes our finished product. Created to give diverse environments, the "beds" have unique properties allowing for many different growing conditions...which is a key component to accommodating the large variety of plants grown by The Ivy Farm.
The Ivy Farm is a conservation-minded business. Our water collection efforts are just one of many "green" practices used in our operation. While companies have made changes to become more environmentally conscious, The Ivy Farm has always been that way!
